This kid just doesn't sleep...

Well, I'm here to tell you that we've got a kid who is on the low end of the sleeping spectrum. According to "The Book", infants his age will sleep anywhere from 20 hours a day to 8 hours a day. Some kids are heavy sleepers. others aren't. Well, for better or worse, Gavin here is much closer to the lower end of the spectrum.

I don't think he got any naps yesterday. We wear him alot - either in the sling or the bjorn - and he-ll close his eyes and it seems like he's falling asleep. So we put him down horizontally, and boom - he's awake. And the nights? He sleeps soundly from, oh say, 11pm to 2 am. But throughout the rest of the night, it's maybe an hour here or an hour there...

So is it us? Maybe. But we're also fairly sure he suffers from infant reflux that keeps him awake long after a feeding. And he is also feeding all the time these days (have you noticed in the pictures that he is getting chubby cheeks?). In any case, we're counting on the advice from the book that he'll "grow out of it" (with in the next year - yikes!)

Avery didn't nap much either...but had two during the day that you could count on when he was a baby...but not long after he "gave up" napping...except under duress. and he ended up passing out...like during lunch in high chair. i recall picking him up from day care around 1 pm (when i was returning from a class at UNH) and he was passed out in the high chair. they apologized PROFUSELY that he was in the chair and sleepin, but they had learned that if they took him out and tried to put him down, he'd wake right up...so to get any sort of nap, one needed to leave him in situ.

maybe its a turner boy thing?
