Gavin loves JJ (and JJ tolerates Gavin...)

Gavin is fascinated with our dog JJ. He laughs hard whenever she is running around the house and generally follows JJ whenever she's in the room. Here we all are on the deck just after sunset getting ready for bed (Gavin is already in his PJ's):

And the pictures just keep coming in...

Over the weekend, we took Gavin's Baby Bungee Bouncer to keep him (and us) entertained, and he did not disappoint. Again, thanks to Eric Foster for taking these pictures.

One more picture from the cliff...

Congratulations Lance & Julia #2

Hey there, this is a much better photo of the happy bride and groom. I stole it from http://sailwhore.blogspot.com/. Go there for some other great photos of the wedding and Gavin too! Posted by Picasa

Gotta post one more from the weekend...

Hello there all. I just gotta post one more from the weekend, 'cause this is a classic Mendocino picture. This is out the backdoor of the wedding reception, with cows grazing and kids playing in the background, and fog overhead. If you've ever been to Mendocino in the summer, then you know the scene. Congratulations to Lance & Julia - September 17, 2005

We went to Mendocino to watch our friends Lance & Julia get married! (It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony, but this is the only picture we got - hopefully we'll have others posted soon!) Anyway, here's a picture of my family when mom & dad dress up!

We rented a house for the weekend near the wedding and stayed there with our sailing friends from Lightn' Up. I got to take baths in the laundry room sink

and everyone got to help and/or watch (and/or drink)

We went to lunch at one of the local restaurants on Friday

and I'm learning how to drink water out of a glass (the key is to watch the glass very, very carefully...)

That afternoon, we went to the Farmer's Market to prepare for a big meal at the house (note that the stroller is STUFFED and Gavin has to be carried)

And on Saturday we went to the party. Mom was a bombshell (note those opera length gloves..., VaVoom baby!!!)

and feather boa's were the fashion statement of the evening:

I was with great company,

and everyone was always taking pictures of me (or telling me to look at some camera)

I got to sit on my dad's shoulders through dinner

and I was a hit at the dinner table.

Clearly, the water sheeting over his eyes doesn't bug him too much!  Posted by Picasa

He holds this bottle by himself better than his milk bottle! We think he likes it because he's definitely teething and the bottle is cold. Posted by Picasa

Grammy Sue comes to visit!

Grammy Sue gives the lil' man his bath. Froggy is always a big hit.

Then Uncle Brian mellows him out for bed time.

...and mom takes him to put him down.Posted by Picasa

Uncle Neal and Aunt Melanie visit!

Gavin gets some swing time with mom and Aunt Melanie while Uncle Neal (and Dad, taking the picture) watch!

Hanging out in the front yard (admire that lawn!)

Take me out to the Ball Game!

Gavin goes to his first ball game.

Joyce & Gavin watch the game (note Gavin's new (and first) baseball cap!) He's wearing the Giants colors but secretly he's rooting for the Chicago Cubbies - who won 5 to 3!!!

How many other cities in the United States, outside of San Francisco, require layers and layers of clothing in the middle of the summer? It was butt cold and foggy last night. It felt like a fall night at School Field in South bend Indiana watching Washington High beat LaSalle in football!!!

Here's Gavin, getting ready for a bath! Posted by Picasa

WARNING: The following picture shows graphic detail of a "Face Plant"

(And note how his mother does nothing to try and stop the fall...)

Yep, that kid is going down and there's nothing to be done but document the experience for him. Where he was confidently sitting up just a moment ago, he is now on his way to a destiny with gravity. Alas, young Gavin must learn these harsh realities of life: If you're going to sit-up with the grown-ups, you're gonna need to take a dive every now and then...

But be heartened, dear reader!, - - there were no tears. Gavin tasted the grass and spit out the blades to sit up and try again! That's our boy!

Gavin gets an 8'x9' plot of lawn to play on!

Last weekend (see the picture below) we decided Gavin needed some grass to play on. Actually, we'd been coming to that conclusion over successive trips to different friends house's who have a lawn; and we'd determined that he loves playing on grass. So last week, we went out and bought $30 worth of rolled turf, dug up a few pavers, put down a cubic yard of dirt and rolled some grass (so to speak).

Above is a picture of “firsts” for him: the first time he's sitting on his own little turf and also the first time he's sitting up on his own. See, he's been trying to sit up on his own for awhile, but just hasn't quite gotten there. But just yesterday, literally, is his first time sitting up on his own. It's kinda exciting here around the Turner household!!!! (And we're gonna take credit and say it's the lawn that let him do it.....)
