Independence Makes Him Very Happy

Since he's got crawling down, he's also climbing to a standing position with confidence. Just one week ago, he would try to move a few crawl-steps and colapse in frustration on the floor. He's now one happy little man since finding his legs as a source of mobility!

Happy Birthday Gavin!

Gavin is 11 months old today, can you believe it?! Here are some recent pictures of him playing at the park. Oh and by the way, he is crawling!!! This really just started Monday where he is putting one knee in front of the other to get to toys that he wanted - - before, his parents were rescuing him too much and or he would pull himself along the floor in an attempt to get to his toys. But now, we're having to put up barricades around the house.

The 35th Annual Assault on North Peak

This last Saturday was the 35th Annual Assault on North Peak of Mount Diablo. The first Saturday after the new year every year, it is an unnatural race against nature in the form of a three thousand foot climb through mud, shale and brush. There are no trails*, there are no self-interpreting nature guides, and treachery and deceipt are all part of the race (thats how I won last year, thank you very much). Do you know what Poison Oak looks like in the winter? No?, well, you're climbing through it. Oh, and you're supposed to do it all in costume. So please excuse the brief posting without any Gavin pictures (?!) and enjoy the shots. It all begins with a Bloody Mary in Clayton California in the last honest get-your-teeth-kicked-in-if-you-say-Go-Niners cowboy bar in the Bay Area. Go Raiders! The start of the hike - pace yourself now. The valley below - our cars are way down there somewhere... Proof that I did lead Andrew for a short period of time... A very tired Sean half-way up, with stunning views all around (we weren't in the clouds yet...) Shirley and Tom on Top of the Mountain Jacqui knows shes won...
