Throwing Rocks in June Lake

One of Gavin's favorite activities is throwing rocks in "agua". When ever he finds even just a rock, he asks for agua to go throw them into. Here's some pictures from this last weekend's outing to June Lake.

Just how close will he get?

Father & Son are both talkers apparently....

Here's a picture from a sail a couple of months ago. Either Sean and Gavin were both singing or we're both talkers..... Posted by Picasa

Some pictures just now coming in from Labor Day Weekend

Posted by Picasa
Wow, was it two weekends ago that our good friends Eric & Tiffany and brother Brian and Emilie came up to visit us for the Labor Day weekend?! We had a great time - - on Sunday, (almost) everyone took the gondola up to the top of Mammoth Mtn and hiked down. Above is the view from the top.

And then that afternoon/evening we drove out to the high desert (about twenty minutes away) and went camping. We found a perfect campsite at the perfect time of day.

Look at that sunset! - - did you know this happens once a day?!
Eric Foster and Emilie find that someone had been here before us... (someone shooting shotguns...) By the way, if you can tell from the pictures, we are surrounded by desert sage - - very fragrent...
The first thing unpacked are six-packs of Mammoth Ales...
Dinner by lamplight -- at least we had chairs & cold beer (and Makers Mark on the table there) - - these are the benefits of car camping on BLM land...

Eric Foster & Emilie take turns with the Harmonica around the campsite... So after a night of Makers Mark & Mammoth Ales, the last thing in the world you want to hear when car camping is a generator before dawn! Well, that's what we heard, then we heard the "whoooosh" of a hot air ballon being inflated. We stuck our heads out of the tent long enough to snap a picture of this scene barely 300 yards away from us launching in the morning air. So much for being away from it all.......

Keep checking back, there are more pictures coming from others (right Emilie!?!)

Gavin Party's with Tower of Power in Sam's Woods!

Sam's Woods is where a lot of big events are held - Bluesapoluza, arts & crafts festivals, and this wine & music festival that happened last night. Tito Fuente Jr & Tower of Power were there among others & Gavin LOVED the live music!

Giving mom kisses - he does great hugs & kisses!!

Camping In Reds Meadow

Reds Meadow & Devil's Postpile are the only things on Highway 203 beyond Mammoth Lakes & Mammoth Mountain. It's a gorgeous valley with a narrow winding road in. It's also 30 minutes from our house to the farthest campsite, which is where we stayed last night, then got up bright & early and came home so Sean could go to work!

That's why we moved to Mammoth...

He's getting cuter by the day - it's also time to get him a hair cut.

The plywood board in the background is covering a natural hot springs. Someone long before us had poured concrete in a perfect 4'x8'x4' deep shape with a mud floor and bubbles coming out of the mud - - eerie but comfortable. Gavin enjoyed kicking up a storm!
Here's a picture of the meadow we were in..
And here we are kicking it at the campsite
And here we show how to look GQ 'round the campsite.
Gavin wants to help Dad cook dinner
Meals are very entertaining as he likes to feed himself!
And here's a little series of shots showing Gavin's skill in crossing the creek.
