Happy Halloween!

Can you guess who I am?
It's alll about the bushy, bushy tail. (He refused to wear his crown...)
"... they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws till Max said "BE STILL" and tamed them with a magic trick."

"... and they made him king of all the wild things. And now, cried max, let the wild rumpus start!" Posted by Picasa

Our House on a Sunday Afternoon

Mama just went for a bike ride. Papa & Gavin cut & split wood on Saturday so we'd have some nice fires this winter.

While helping cut wood in the forest (he was actually fighting over a pine cone with a friends dog), Gavin took a tumble & scratched up his nose. He seems no worse for the wear. Good thing. Seems like his bumps & bruises ("booms'' as he calls them) arebecoming a habit. Posted by Picasa

Going to Monday Night Football

As part of my job, we get to go drink beers at the couple of places around town that do Monday Night Football specials. Here's this last weeks trip to Giovanni's for pizza and beer with the boy, who makes many friends kicking the football around the restaurant (like a soccer ball) when he's not eating pizza. (...we're not feeding him beer...)
The kid's blue nalgene bottle ("agua!") is his.

Oh The Weather Outside is Frightful....

This was our first "dusting" of the year that happened last week. We only got 6" - - the snow plows didn't even come out.... Snow is usually measured here in feet apparently, not in inches. Today was stunningly beautiful though, it got up to nearly sixty degrees, and is to remain this way till Halloween, they say...

Right now it's pretty quiet in town here - it's only locals and we're finally getting to know people. Opening day on The Mountain is November 9th....., so they say.

It's great getting to know all the bar owners in town (or most of them anyway), because they are the true "economic barometers" of a destination resort town. They'll tell you how it is. Everything is slow right now, but come winter..., the rule of thumb is "Don't shop at Vons supermarket between 4 to 6pm or Christmas to New Years...".
